July is already coming to an end and back to school season is upon us! Whether you are a parent to children in elementary, middle, or high school, or you’re a parent sending their child off to college, there are important things to keep in mind across the scope of needs.
It’s important to be prepared in any educational setting in order to succeed. The basics to pack for any student would be straight-forward items like dependable writing utensils, notebooks, calculators, highlighters, and binder paper. According to the needs of the student, there will be additional supplies to purchase. Packing other essentials like quality lunch boxes and water bottles are good to keep in mind. While the size and durability will vary upon the age group, backpacks are also a supply that should be of high quality. For college students, back to school shopping consists of much more than expensive textbooks and writing utensils; how many things are needed to furnish the dorm?
Whether it’s back-to-school shopping for clothes, school supplies, or dorm room necessities, it’s important to keep these key features in mind:
Keeping safety in mind, be sure to equip your student with the eAlarm or eAlarm+! Appropriate for ages and allowed everywhere, the eAlarm is an essential item for back to school that won’t be included on the supplies list.
It doesn’t have to be a hectic season, just keep these main features in mind. Best of luck!

Here at BASU.COM, we designate one day out of each month to be all about you: our valued customers! Each team member sits down at the beginning of the day with a list of customers to call and chat with. We wish we could call every single new customer from the previous month, but we each call a set number to reach as many as possible. We want to clarify that the call is all about you, not about sales or anything we can get from you, just about you and your experience. We ask about your product, how you like it, if you’d have any suggestions for us to improve your user experience, anything else you’d like for us to provide, and any questions you may have about your product or for us.
Once our calling session is over, we break to go over the feedback we’ve received, thinking about how we can improve our products and services for our customers based on your thoughts, questions, and suggestions. Team B A S U will meet a few times throughout the day to share our thoughts and to brainstorm how we can improve our policies, products, and procedures for you!
Each team member prioritizes these tasks during Customer Appreciation Day because we all understand how valuable our customers and their experiences are. Our team is 100% dedicated to your satisfaction and we wholeheartedly participate in this day in order to achieve just that. Team B A S U wants all of our customers to know how special their experience and feedback are, which is why we try to call as many of our customers as possible. How else can we demonstrate how much we value our customers?
Your ideas, thoughts, critiques, questions, and feedback all play an amazing role to help us cater our services and products to better serve you, the reason we’re here: our customers.

More and more people are moving into cities and find themselves at home in or near an urban jungle. The word “exploration” may invoke thoughts and images of far-away destinations and anthropological sites, but urban exploration is actually a modern movement that many people are happy to be a part of. People will often look for sites that are vacant or even abandoned to explore.
You can take it as seriously as you want to, as there are different levels of urban exploration to partake in. Serious urban explorers often think of themselves as modern historians, archivers, documentarians, architecture buffs, and discoverers. For some, it is an exciting activity simply to explore their urban surroundings; for others, there is a thrill in venturing into spaces that are off-site, hidden, and even dangerous. It is recommended that you explore with a buddy in the case of emergencies. Some tools to bring with you, whether you’re a beginner or an advanced urban explorer, are a flashlight, some water, and a camera if you’d like to document your exploration and findings.
While urban exploration may seem like a modern idea, there’s a fairly recent but historical discovery that is attributed to urban exploration, and that is the discovery of the Catacombs under Paris hundreds of years ago! There’s always something new to discover, and it can be fun to re-discover what you already know. Urban exploration is just one of the ways you can discover and explore your surroundings to live out an adventure!

Did you know that a recent study by the Robert Half Executive Recruiting Firm ranked cities in the U.S. according to the worst commute time and stress? Washington, D.C. beat San Francisco in average commute time by a mere 73 seconds! While the full study reported 27 cities per list, here are the top 5 for each!
It’s interesting to see that San Francisco was the only city to make the top 5 for both lists. This could suggest that the length of the commute is not the most stressful aspect, though it certainly is a considerable factor.
The study also found that 30% of US workers said that their commutes are too long. With the averages only ranging from 54.95 minutes to 60.42, Americans are definitely commuting for a significant amount of time throughout their work days.
We are already well into Summer 2018, and more than halfway through the year! It is a time to be enjoyed with long sunny days and short warmer nights. Many students are enjoying their summer vacations and others are taking advantage of the great weather to travel and explore new destinations. We’ve put together a list of ten places to consider exploring this summer!
Make sure to be prepared for your trip by researching your destination and planning ahead. It’s always important to prep in case of emergencies so think ahead in relation to emergency supplies, cash, letting loved ones know your travel plans, and having a general to specific plan.
Happy exploring this summer!
July 4, 1776 was the day that Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. So every fourth of July, Americans commemorate the day with barbecue’s, family fun, parades, baseball games, picnics, and last but not least, fireworks!
This year, we’re celebrating America’s 242nd birthday!
Have a Happy Fourth of July, from everyone here at Team B A S U! [-_-]
Team B A S U utilizes the “binary approach” in all of our projects and tasks, no matter how large or small. What does that mean? If you do a quick search on dictionary.com, you’ll find a couple definitions for the word binary:
How does this apply to a mindset or approach regarding projects and tasks? Think about binary as 0 or 1, and there are simply two outcomes. 0 and 1 can be used to quantify an outcome, like a score. Here at BASU.COM, we value excellence, and we measure excellence by the grade of 100%. This is what allows for the binary approach to be implemented and used for success within Team B A S U. For example, if we think of a task that needs to be completed, it can only be measured by a 0 or 1, 0 being 0% and 1 being 100%. This displays an all-or-nothing-outcome mindset because we as individuals and as a team understand that the task can only be done perfectly or not at all.
Now, while it can seem daunting or even discouraging to see all of your work and efforts summarized as 0’s or 1’s, try to think of it as an opportunity to excel and produce only your best work. Some of us need deadlines to ensure that things will get done, and that is absolutely okay. But whether they are personally needed by people are not, deadlines are important and necessary because they communicate a requirement and a standard. The binary approach amongst a team does the same thing. Everyone understands that the task needs to be completed and completed well. It’s rather refreshing once it is fully accepted and embraced because you comprehend fully what is expected of you, and you understand exactly what needs to get done.
Sounds like a lot of pressure, doesn’t it? It can be, because you understand that a lot is on the line. But if you think of each task or project with this binary approach, you’ll be able to keep in mind the level of excellence needed to get that 1 or 100%, and it’ll push you to be meticulous, plan ahead, and give it your all. That is why the binary approach works, because you know the outcome is either failure or success; it’s either done perfectly or not at all. And that is how we here at BASU.COM pursue excellence in everything we do, by approaching each task, each project, each assignment with an all-or-nothing mentality. This is why the binary approach works!
