Hiking is a great exercise for both your physical and mental well-being. It offers low-impact cardio and can be short or very long, depending on your needs as a hiker. Another great benefit of hiking is the exposure to cleaner air, beautiful views, and surrounding nature.

If you’re looking to hike but not venture too far away from home, we’ve put together a list of the top 5 hikes in North America you can try this summer!

1. Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA: You don’t need to hike all 277 miles, but there are to rims you can explore. THe North Rim is an ideal trail for hikers who enjoy more advanced routes that remote and secluded.
   
2. Glacier National Park, Montana, USA: A gorgeous area located between Canada and USA, this is the park to visit and hike through during July or August. There are more than 7000 miles of hiking trails among glacier peaks.
   
3. Yosemite National Park, CA, USA: This park in California is famous for the right reasons. You don’t have to brave the Half Dome; there’s plenty of other hikes to venture on.
   
4. Prince Edward Island, Canada: It’s an island with plenty of hiking trails, but the Confederation Trail is flat and allows for walking or cycling!
   
5. Mt. Healy Overlook Trek, Alaska, USA: You’d be going pretty far north, but this is a beautiful mountain to hike, a “walk-up mountain,” in fact. Wouldn’t it be cool to mark this off of your list?
