Innovation is one of our core values here at BASU. It’s a word and a theme you’ll hear often, especially in the tech world. But what does it really mean and what does it really look like? If you search the word online, you’ll see a lot of definitions revolving around the word “new,” and that’s great. New ideas, methods, and devices translates into innovative ideas, methods, and devices. But it’s about more than being new, right? Maybe innovation can be synonymous with adding value or contributing in a better way. BASU prides itself on providing only the best in all things, so naturally, innovation is a core value here. That means innovation applies to more than the products we provide our customers; innovation is a core value applied to everything we do. So we’re encouraged to always be asking: Is this the latest and greatest tool, process, method? Fill in the blank according to your needs at the end of that question and see if you can’t spark a little innovation in your own life. It’s not just for technology or products, it’s also for processes, standards, and questioning the status quo in search for measurable improvements. Because innovation isn’t just about being “new,” it’s about improving, and if that’s something you’re always seeking, you’re constantly seeking the best.
Whether or not you’ve studied psychology, chances are you may have heard of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Or maybe you’ve seen this chart on a poster somewhere. This may be new or review, but this image denotes a pyramid of human needs, according to Abraham Maslow, that starts with our most basic needs; only once the more basic needs have been met can the individual focus on the next. We utilize this chart at BASU to inform us of the direction in which to grow and develop our products because we agree that safety is among the most basic needs. And as represented in this hierarchy, personal security is among the main concerns. It may seem rather straightforward, but this theory and pyramid display the significance of not only our niche, but also the responsibility within our role as producers of America’s #1 Emergency Alarm. Here at BASU, we know how important personal security and safety are to the individual, so we’re always working hard to ensure only the best for you and your loved ones, which is a part of the next need to be focused on once safety is addressed. We want to help our customers meet their most essential needs so that they can move forward to focusing on everything else! We have an announcement: BASU HQ has moved! The team at BASU has been working diligently during this transition to continue executing our mission, our vision, and our values.
