14 Essential Traveling Tips for 2018 [-_-]

If you’re planning on taking any trips this summer, we’ve put together a list of tips and things to keep in mind while you’re out and about! Depending on where you’re going and who you’re with, some may make more sense than others. But it’s important to always be prepared, especially for an adventure!

  • Going somewhere out of the country? Take the time to learn some key phrases in the native language, like “Thank you,” “please,” and “excuse me.”
  • Stay hydrated: on the plane, on the train, on the go. Especially at 30,000 feet, it’s much easier to get dehydrated.
  • Take only what you need: Pack lightly if you can. Limit the amount of cash and important documents you bring with you when going out so that you’re not devastated or stranded if anything were to happen.
  • Bring a lock with you. You never know when you’ll need to lock up your things while you’re on the move!
  • Try a free walking tour! They’re informational and fun, also a great way to meet other travelers.
  • Stay at a hostel if you can. They’re cheap and also another way to meet people.
  • Write down the address/room number/phone number of the places you stay at and save it somewhere close, like on your phone. It’s so easy to forget and get lost; it never hurts to save that information.
  • Buy traveler’s insurance! You never know what could happen.
  • Take pictures of your luggage and other personal items. This documentation can help speed of the process of being reimbursed if your luggage is lost.
  • Wear the right shoes: your feet and the rest of your body are depending on the right pair of  shoes that will sustain you throughout your trip.
  • Take earplugs
  • Bring a USB charger: Don’t get stranded somewhere because your battery dies, which they do all the time!
  • Let someone know your plans/itinerary. Especially if you’re traveling alone, let someone you trust know where you’ll be and your plans, just in case something happens.
  • Pack a travel first-aid kit! Some things to include: Tums, aspirin, cough drops, bandaids, and Benadryl.

And last but not least, don’t forget your eAlarm+! Take it with you on your carry-on so you’ll always have peace of mind and a way to protect your personal safety. We know how important safety is when you travel, and the eAlarm+ can be with you at every moment of your trip.

Happy traveling!
